How Much Should Acid Reflux Cures Cost?

If you have attempted to purchase acid reflux cures in the last few years, you have seen that they are available in a range of different prices. Some of the brands are affordable while some others are so costly that you find it ridiculous that someone would pay such a high price. So how do you know how much an acid reflux cure should cost? There are many things that can affect the price of a cure for acid reflux.

Advertising Costs

An acid reflux cure manufacturer may pay advertising agencies large fees to create demand for their acid reflux cure. Advertising is needed to make sure that the people that are in the market for a cure for acid reflux know about the products available from the manufacturer. Effective advertising will often require a great deal of money as advertising costs have skyrocketed over the last few years. Obviously the manufacturers and wholesalers have to recover the cost of this somehow and so it is factored into the cost of the reflux cure brand.

The Ingredients

There are many different ingredients that can be used in an acid reflux cure and some have a higher price than others. An acid reflux natural cure that is created using costly ingredients will have a higher price than some of the other brands of cures for acid reflux, although many people would not be able to tell the difference in quality for the different types of cures. Most buyers do not choose a cure for acid reflux based on the ingredients, but how the cure for acid reflux works for the person.

Purchasing Location

The location where the acid reflux cure is purchased will affect the price of the cure for acid reflux as well. Many upscale stores will only carry the highest quality brands while general retailers will carry lower quality, lower priced brands that are considered to be affordable to many more people.

Anyone should be able to choose an acid reflux cure that they can take and that works for their needs. It does not matter how costly the acid reflux cure is if the cure does not work for you.

Antacids can generally stop heartburn, but if it persists then all physicians do prescribe medication, even though need not be helpful in all cases. Many medicines are available across the shelf from many drugstores which doctors generally presribe. Acid Reflux - Treating It With Medication

Antacids are generally available without a doctor's prescription and relieve the symptoms of acid indigestion and heartburn (dyspepsia). The usual ingredients of antacids are magnesium or aluminium and they work by neutralising the acid produced in the stomach which is the cause of indigestion and acid reflux. This group often contain sodium alginate which forms a protective coating over the lining of the gullet and the stomach. Proton pump Inhibitors are drugs which shut down the system in the stomach called the proton pump. It is this system which produces acid in the stomach, the leaking of which into the oesophagus causes acid reflux. These drugs are taken in the form of tablets or capsules, as a powder to be diluted in water or as injections and are used to treat stomach ulcers and a rather rare condition called Zollinger-Ellison syndrome as well as acid reflux. Omeprazole and Lansoprazole are well known varieties of this particular type of drug although there are several others. Side effects are rare although they can include diarrhoea or constipation, stomach pains, wind, drowsiness, dizziness and headaches. In unusual cases, a severe allergic reaction can result. My personal experience with Omeprazole was seriously raised blood pressure and severe head pain. However, replacing Omeprazole with Ranitidine and taking blood pressure reduction medication for a couple of weeks sorted out that problem.

H2-Receptor Antagonists
This group of drugs works by attaching to and blocking the H2 receptor area on stomach cells which, when stimulated by the naturally produced chemical, histamine, generates acid. Ranitidine is the best known of this drug group, others being Nizatidine, Famotidine and Cimetidine. Side effects are few but can display as diarrhoea, headaches, dizziness and tiredness. Loss of hair has been reported by takers of Cimetidine and with nizatidine, sweating. Both proton pump inhibitors and H2 receptor antagonists are used together with antibiotics to get rid of Helicobacter pylori infection which can cause stomach ulcers and duodenitis.

Warning: If symptoms of heartburn persist, consult your doctor. They could be indicative of something much more serious than indigestion. Never embark on a course of medication without consulting a doctor. Never take medicines prescribed for somebody else.
